Question About Copilot Student Activation After Student Pack Approval

Hello,

My GitHub Student Developer Pack has already been approved and GitHub Pro is active on my account. However, GitHub Copilot still shows as “Copilot Free” instead of the student Copilot plan.

I noticed in the GitHub documentation that starting April 20, 2026, new sign-ups for Copilot Student plans are temporarily paused.

Could you please confirm whether:

my account is affected by this temporary pause, or
there is an activation/sync issue with my Copilot Student entitlement?

Additional details:

I activated Copilot Free before student verification
My student benefits were approved on April 18, 2026
The Copilot settings page still shows “Copilot Free”

We have provided more details about changes to Copilot Individual Plans in this discussion, which may be updated if new information becomes available.

From the FAQ:

10. I'm newly eligible for Copilot Student but have never activated it. Can I sign up now?
    At this time, new activations of Copilot Student, Pro, and Pro+ are paused.

Your GitHub Education verification is active and has not been removed. The pause affects the ability to activate Copilot Student or a Copilot paid plan. When signups resume, you will be able to activate the Education benefit if you are still eligible. In the meantime, Copilot Free remains available for signups.

We do not have an estimated timeframe to share yet for when the pause will end. Updates will be posted in this discussion post.
